Dr. Jay Morgan received his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Louisville, KY. He completed two years of internal medicine training at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital and affiliated clinics. Dr. Morgan earned numerous scholastic and clinical honors and awards during his collegiate and medical studies.
Over the past two years, Dr. Morgan worked as a licensed physician in the State of Georgia acquiring a broad range of professional experiences in Internal, Adolescent and Minor Emergency/Urgent Care Medicine. His patients represented diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds, requiring proficient medical knowledge and understanding of cultural traditions in order to provide them with optimal medical care.
Dr. Morgan worked as a General Practitioner at La Clinica de Todos/The Clinic for All located in East Point, Georgia. He took care of patients ranging from Adolescence to Elderly with health concerns that ranged from Asthma to complex medical diagnosis such as Metabolic Syndrome and Hypothyroidism. He performed routine procedures that included incisions and drainage of abscesses, pap smears and suturing of minor wounds.
Dr. Morgan was also employed as the Center Physician at the Atlanta Job Corps Center (AJCC) in Atlanta, Georgia. In this role, He conducted intake exams for all incoming students, making diagnoses and treating health concerns presented by the students as well as coordinating care with specialists, when necessary. His duties also included planning informational sessions designed to provide education to students regarding preventive health topics such as immunizations, Hepatitis B and C, TB and Family Planning. He added key components to the Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyles (HEALs) Program. While serving as its managing physician, the AJCC successfully passed Regional Office assessments and maintained accreditation for its Health and Wellness Program. Also under his leadership, the AJCC health and wellness team received one of the highest scores within 8 years. Additionally, a student survey report gave the wellness staff one of the highest ratings in the Atlanta region. He was employed at the AJCC through Oct. 31, 2017 at which time the center was closed pending the construction of a new state-of-the art facility in South Fulton County.
Dr. Morgan has also worked as an Internist/Urgent Care Physician at both the Snapfinger Woods Family Practice Clinic and the Piedmont Minor Emergency Clinic, respectively. During this experience, he managed routine chronic medical conditions (i.e. HTN, HLD, DMII, etc.…) and treated acute conditions (i.e. Acute Viral URI, Acute Back Pain, minor wounds, etc.…).
Dr. Morgan is committed to patient education. He enjoys educating his patients on the importance of adopting lifestyles that prevent both acute and chronic medical conditions. He is excited to join the healthcare team at Community Holistic Advanced Practice Nurses (CHAPN).
